For AERA, we developed a marketing concept that not only showcases the location, but also makes it understandable. The special location on Mierendorff Island is not immediately apparent, so we precisely highlighted its qualities.
Paths, visual references and landmarks form a visual system that explains how to use the building and how it relates spatially to its surroundings.
Visual language, typography and maps give AERA its own unique identity and convey the strengths of a workplace that offers distance, tranquillity and clear orientation.
This creates a narrative that does not stage the building, but makes it comprehensible and turns its location into a recognisable advantage for interested parties.
The location as a starting point
For AERA, we have reinterpreted the surroundings of the building, Mierendorff Island, in cartographic terms. The island is not only shown as a location, but as a coherent urban space with water, paths and striking landmarks.
Based on the island map, we translated the location qualities of the AERA into everyday maps: walking distances, restaurants in the immediate vicinity and neighbours on the banks of the Spree, such as the Brass bar, Galerie Noack and the planned Spreebord Tower.
The maps not only show where the building is located, but also what it feels like to work there and move around the neighbourhood.
Interior design and renderings
We developed an interior design for the building, which was still empty at that point, that clearly and comprehensively illustrated its future use. An office floor was furnished as an example to give a clear idea of working methods, processes and spatial qualities.
The interior design was translated into detailed 3D and CGI scenes. Workstations, informal seating areas, meeting areas, tea kitchens and communal areas were spatially designed and populated with 3D characters.
After rendering, these figures were visually refined and made more realistic with the help of AI. The result was a representation that mediates between design and later use without anticipating a finished state.
In addition to the static images, short films with camera movements and moving characters were created, also implemented with AI support. This made it possible to experience the floor not only spatially, but also in motion.
The finished scenes were finally rendered as 360° panoramas and combined into a virtual tour, which allows even a complex building to be presented in a simple, clear and entertaining way. These tours work online and offline, in a browser, on mobile devices and, of course, with VR glasses.
VIRTUAL 360° TOUR
In addition, a responsive, mobile-optimised project website was created to make the AERA concept digitally accessible. Content, visualisations and information are clearly structured and easy to read on all devices.
Style guide
A finalised mini PDF style guide covers all the basic design elements: colours, logo, font and illustration style.
It helps the client to create additional marketing materials in line with the style of the brochure and website.
